Actions Against the Roots of Violence and Despair

The goal of this Donor-Advised Fund is to gather support for community-based projects in the Islamic world that promote sustainable development and link Muslims and non-Muslims in constructive dialogue and international cooperation. Our objective is to identify neglected needs and locally-initiated projects that will lead to long-term improvements. For Americans, donating to this Fund is also a way to demonstrate your belief in international cooperation and support for communities that are currently isolated from positive experiences with the United States.

Contributors to this Fund, if they so choose, will be able to work with Virtual Foundation staff and the ECOLOGIA Board to locate and evaluate groups and projeccts. Depending on needs that emerge in the next few months, we will be looking at new projects developed by community groups in Islamic countries. Some examples of possible models include the following already funded VF projects in Central Asia:

Our goal is to link momentary good intentions to concrete and highly visible results.

Budget

There is no set budget for this initiative. Depending on the amount of contributions and number of contributors, we will work together to locate projects which we can support. We have set a target of $5,000 as a reasonable indication of interest from funders. The average cost of funded Virtual Foundation projects is around $2000, but amounts vary between $150 and $14,800.
